Rocketship Park to usher in new playground equipment

Torrance Community Services Department wishes to consult with neighbors of Los Arboles (Rocketship) Park on prospective designs for new playground equipment.  One session was held today; another is scheduled for this Saturday at 10:00am at the park.  Please click on this information flyer for further information: LosArbolesPlayEquip_Feb2016 We learned at today’s session that the sand area around the famed rocketship and the ship itself will not be involved.  The effort is focused solely on replacing the play equipment zone: slides, swings, “moon lander”, etc.  Three options have been presented for consideration, each with different cost and usage considerations.  All new equipment will be built to ADA standards and sand replaced with new, resilient wood fiber material.  Designs will focus on the 2-5 and 5-12 age groups.  No restrooms, nor trees/foliage or shade structures are included.  Similar refurbishments can be seen and judged at Victor, Greenwood, Hickory, and McMaster Parks within Torrance.

Jason Minter, Sr Business Manager for Torrance Community Services Department, along with other city staff present options for new play equipment, Feb 18 2016.
