The proposed View Equity Ordinance (sometimes known as the ‘trees and views ordinance’) will be discussed and likely voted upon this Tuesday, January 10 during the next Torrance City Council meeting. The complete meeting agenda for Tuesday can be found here. and a draft of the 12-page ordinance may be found within this document. All Riviera residents who have expressed an interest in seeing this new ordinance cross the finish line are encouraged to attend, where there will be an opportunity to briefly express your opinion.
The ordinance would apply to the Hillside Overlay district, and provide a multi-step process for neighbors to resolve disputes over vegetation that may interfere with a property owner’s view. The RHA is grateful for the efforts by many residents to provide thoughtful input to the drafting process, and to the city council and staff for listening to the residents and creating the draft of the ordinance.
In the coming days we hope to update you with the outcome of the meeting.
Happy New Year to all our Riviera neighbors!
We hope to see you at our next general meeting in February (details soon), and as always, look forward to those of you wishing to contribute your time and ideas to keep this homeowners association flourishing. And of course, we appreciate all of you who have volunteered your 2016-17 dues as your contribution.
