Ashai Project to be Redesigned
The Ashai development project, a multi-use office building and condo project, is going back to the drawing board. The directors of Ashai Development Corporation, Billy and Arthur Ashai, have confirmed that they are going to lower the height and scale of the project, to make it more compatible with the neighborhood. The project is located at the corner of Via Valmonte and Hawthorne, on the border of the Riviera and Walteria areas.
The redesign is a result of public opposition to the original large, 3-story plan seen above. Residents wrote emails, called in to the Planning Division, and about 80 residents showed up to a public meeting in October at the Torrance Airport meeting room to state their opposition to the project. Thank you to everyone who voiced their opinion.
