Between 2017 and 2019, a large multi-use and housing project was proposed to the City of Torrance to be built at the Butcher Hill site along the corner of Hawthorne Blvd. and Via Valmonte. Community resistance, environmental impact analyses (due to the site’s prior use), and the coinciding COVID epidemic resulted in the City’s non-approval of this project.
