Welcome back from summer everyone!

Reminder everyone, make time this week for:

RHA general meeting
Wednesday, October 12, 7PM at
Richardson Middle School cafeteria.

The topic will be “The State of the Hillside Overlay Ordinance,” and the speaker will be City Councilman Cliff Numark.

Councilman Numark

Mr. Numark will discuss the decision-making process of the planning commission and city council in hillside cases, and where it seems to be heading in the future.  He will take questions from audience members, or you can email your question in advance of the meeting to president@hollywoodriviera.org. Be part of this important discussion!

Also on the agenda will be the results from the neighborhood survey of issues and concerns taken  during the month of September.  Click here to take the survey and let your thoughts be known to help guide the RHA in addressing your concerns.  (All responses will be anonymous.)

The General meeting will open at 6:30 PM.  Coffee and light refreshments will be served.  Meeting and refreshments, as always, are free.

The RHA hasn’t been entirely outtatown this summer.  Check out the latest RHA/Riviera Garden Club Landscape Awards (the thumbs get greener every year), as well as the Scholarship awards  given out to this year’s finest graduating seniors.

With the start of the RHA 2011-12 season, we hope you’ll find more reasons than ever to support the RHA, and get involved with our many initiatives.  Your membership dues for 2011-12 are essential to keep your RHA active and engaged.  Please consider sending in your dues for the year now, and consider volunteering for some of this year’s upcoming activities.

Riviera Village Summer Festival!

The RHA hopes you can make it down to our unique village this summer for the annual festival, the weekend of June 25 & 26.
What a great way to ring in the summer, with arts & crafts, fabulous food, carnival rides, a beer garden, live music, and, with luck, plenty of sunshine and a cooling breeze.

We encourage you to use the South High parking lot and shuttle, as parking along the lower Riviera can get pretty tight.

See you there!

Torrance Firefighters shine bright light on capabilities, responsibilities

The February 9 RHA General Meeting was graced by the presence of many of Torrance’s finest, who took the time to brief residents on some of the latest accomplishments and enhancements to the TFD.

The Riviera loves its firefighters!

They also brought over some of their ever-sparkling engine equipment to give hands-on demonstrations of the life- and property-saving technology embedded in the well-known red firetrucks.  Much in-depth information was provided, and many questions from the audience answered.
